An expert guidance lecture on Goods and Service Tax

An expert guidance lecture was organized for MCom students on 23rd January 2020 to give them some knowledge about “GST- ONE INDIA, ONE TAX”. The session was attended by 60 students .The lecture was taken by Mr A.K Sinha, an Ex-officer of CGST and a lawyer and consultant by profession. Mr. Sinha briefed the session with the definition and the applicability of Goods and service tax. He explained the students how GST is calculated on different kind of transactions. He defined “GST is an indirect tax on supply of goods or services or both”. Further he explained the meaning of the ‘event of supply’ which includes transactions like transfer, sale, barter, lease/rent, gift, disposal, exchange, and license. He gave the types of GST which are CGST,SGST,IGST & UTGST. He also taught us essentials/requirements for Tax applicability on Goods and/or services. The session was ended with the explanation of GST as destination based tax.

“THE TUTOR” A NGO Visit

The M.com department conducted their Departmental activity “THE TUTOR” this year on 18th December 2019 by visiting “THE KANCHAN FOUNDATION”- Non Government Organistaion which was located in sector-28, Vashi. The motive of conducting this activity was to build up confidence in them, develop good communication skill and make them feel comfortable for interacting with new people. We played some Fun games with them as an eye breaking session. Further we started our activities like craft & origami where we taught them to make rose, sofa, rocket, boat, snake, balloons etc which indirectly taught them to listen and follow the instructions. Then small quiz round & spell Bee competition was conducted by forming groups of 6 kids with one of our volunteer in each group for their general knowledge to develop leadership skills and team work and prize was given to the winners. We ended our event with zumba dance which they learned and can practice as their daily morning exercise.

“Research Paper/Proposal Writing”

Research Committee in Association with the Department of Masters of Commerce organised a session for Faculty members on - “Research Paper/Proposal Writing” on 4th December, 2019 from 10.00 am to 11:30 am in A.V.ROOM. The Resource person was Professor Peter Walter Cunningham Emeritus Professor, D Phil (UPE), DipSoc (Kent), Accredited Consultant: SAP R/3 Human Resources & Business Information Warehouse. The Resource Person explained in detail the guidelines of Research Paper/Proposal Writing . He also explained all the requirements for proposal writing, various formats and the report writing .Our 11 faculties attended this workshop.
